Q's about Memory
- What kind of memory cards can I use, and what's the largest supported by digitech?
The only cards supported by the GNX3 are SmartMedia cards. Not compact flash, not SD, not XD. Largest size supported is 128MB. Some people have successfullyused xD-to-SmartMedia adapters, but you can still only use up to 128MB cards.
- Where can I buy one? Where can I buy one CHEAP?
SmartMedia is becoming increasingly hard to find as vitrually no-one makes it anymore. Prices for new smartmedia cards have increased drastically over the last two years. You can probably find cards fro sale on ebay.
- Why doesn't Digitech upgrade the GNX3's firmware so we can use larger cards?
It's not a firmware limitation that prevents the GNX3 from using larger memory, it's a hardware limitation.
- Why can't my PC read the SmartMedia card I just took out of my GNX3?
You have to use the recorder's CARD>PC function before moving the SmartMedia to your PC.
- How do I do a Low-Level format on the SmartMedia card?
Note first that you really shouldn't need to do this, but if you've tried everything else, are running current firware on the GNX3, don't care about what's on the card, and are still unable to use the SmartMedia card in your GNX3 this is worth a try.
- Turn your GNX3 off
- Put in your SmartMedia
- Press and hold the recorder's SETUP button while you turn on the GNX3
- When the unit displays "LOW LVL?" release the SETUP key and press the recorder's UNDO key.
- When the format is complete, you'll be prompted to remove the card.
